SEPT. FIRST FRIDAY ||| COUCH SURFING CLT

GREAT FIRST FRIDAY COUCH SURFING CHARLOTTE. PAPER | CUT  THANKS EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT.  MORE FIRST FRIDAY’S TO COME!

THANKS KEVIN ‘SURF’ MITCHELL FOR THE FABULOUS COUCH SURFING PHOTO SESSIONS!

Couch Surfing was inspired by Surf’s past relationships with friends that were homeless. His couch was always open to friends in need. He holds the symbol of the couch to be one of friendship, community, support and love.

We would like to offer the couch up to the most diverse and art forward cities in the States. Starting with NYC. We want to give strangers an opportunity to participate, and hopefully open a face to face conversation with each participant who finds the couch. Talk and create blurbs and quotes for book about what home means for them,  also brainstorming solutions to the growing homeless situation in the States. Something that is way too overlooked in todays day and age.

Taking something comfortable and placing it in a abnormal setting to catch the attention of the viewer, to create a larger audience than just Charlotte.

Giving people a chance to be a part of this #couchsurfingNYC via Instagram and Paper|Cut Gallery Website. The couch becomes Street Art on a non- permanent level, sculpture, and photography melding to create a mixed media product, hopefully capturing many moments and places. Hopefully inspiring people to help make lives of every American comfortable.

Upon completion prints and a book of the Couch Surfing Series will be available.

We hope to spark a social media topic to raise awareness about homelessness. Look for #CouchSurfingCLT now and #CouchSurfingNYC at the end of September.
